Looking for something fun to do this weekend? You’re in luck! The good news is it will be beautiful out and before the weather gets to be unbearable, it’s a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and have a good time with friend and family.
This weekend, I suggest heading out to Mayfest, a long-standing Fort Worth tradition that keeps getting bigger and better with each passing year. This year as they celebrate their 45th anniversary they are offering not just one, but two opportunities for patrons to gain FREE admission to the festival. On Thursday, May 4, admission is FREE for all guests. So whether you have all day or want to visit after work, Thursday is the day. If you can’t make it Thursday, join them on Friday when the first 45 people to enter at the north gate receive a Party Pass that grants them access to the festival all weekend long.
Favorite attractions like Twiggy the water-skiing squirrel and the Great American Duck Races will be present, but there are some exciting new things happening too! The adults are sure to enjoy the new Mayfest Beer Garden which will feature craft beer from local breweries. Yes, that’s right, ice cold drinks along the river on a perfect sunny day, sign me up… (er, maybe next year) but have a drink for me! Love live music? some of your favorite local bands will be there too! I cannot wait to see Poo Live Crew on Sunday, they always bring down the house. If you are looking for a gift for Mom, don’t miss the Art & Gift market. I’m sure you’ll find something she’ll love!
And although I don’t have to lug around my little one’s stroller just yet, those of you with kiddos are sure to love the Drop and Park option. The South gate will serve as a carpool-type drop off so you can drop off the kids, strollers, etc. and then head to park.
I’m heading out there this weekend, and I hope you are too. Bring your sunscreen, empty bellies and be ready for a good time! First stop, funnel cakes and lemonade.
